PROM INFORMED CONSENT
It is never easy when a woman's water breaks without contractions. There is no warning. Parents face the decision of the type of care they want, and midwives juggle the time frame, protocols, and guidelines to ensure everyone is safe.
It is important to discuss PROM with parents thoroughly during their pregnancies - BEFORE they go into labor. In my practice, I had them read the information on PROM in my book, Your Birth Journey: A Holistic Guide for Pregnancy around 30 weeks. I also had them go to Evidence-Based Birth to read Rebecca Dekker's article on PROM.
